The Pharmacy department at DMH functions as part of the patient care team, overseeing all aspects of medication use, from the operating room or intensive care unit, to the emergency room and patient care wards. Our goal is to make certain that you or your loved one receives the right drug, in the right dose, at the right time.
What does a pharmacist do?
The pharmacist performs critical computerized and other quality checks to detect and decrease the incidence of adverse reactions, drug interactions, and mistakes. The pharmacist also advises physicians, nurses and other medical staff on new drugs, effective therapies, and the selection and administration of specific medications.
Our pharmacist is available to counsel patients and their families regarding proper medication use. Additionally, our pharmacist can be contacted to present wellness/disease prevention programs to your civic or church group.
