We pledge to make our motto- Caring hands, Caring heart, a part of every patient's experience.
Do you want to make a difference? ... Do you have time for others? ... Do you have a 'Caring Heart'? ... Any volunteers?
What does a Hospital Auxillary do?
The Auxiliary consists of members of the community that volunteer their time to promote and advance the welfare of the patients, using their time and talents to assist in various areas of the hospital. This may include working in departments such as Medical Records, Physical therapy, Surgery and Pharmacy. Duties may include filing, answering phones, making copies and general organizational tasks. Auxilians provide directions and answer inquiries at the information desk located in the Hospital lobby. Members also encourage patients by distributing water and ice to the rooms, handing out magazines and books or toys to younger children.
What is required to become an Auxillary Member?
In general, you need a desire to help others, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Men and women, age 18 or older are invited to become an Auxilian. There are no minimum hours required, but members are asked to volunteer at least one day a week for four hours.
Can teens volunteer?
Yes, if you are ages 14-18 you may be interested in our Candy Striper Program. Click this link for more information about the teen volunteer program.
What's the next step?
Contact the Director of Volunteer Services to request and complete a volunteer application. The Director will conduct an interview to determine your interests, skills and availability. An orientation and tour of the hospital is also required.
